Auditor Resume Questions

1. How do you write the header of an auditor resume?

The header of your resume should include your most relevant contact information. In addition to your first and last name, provide the city and state in which you’re located as well as at least two ways to contact you. It is best to use a mobile phone number, but remember to record a professional voicemail greeting before adding it to your resume. Your email address must also be professional, such as using your first and last name. If you have a LinkedIn account, most hiring managers find it acceptable to include the URL for it in your header.

2. How do you list certifications on your auditor resume?

The way you list your certifications depends on how many you have. If you only have one or two, you can include them in your education section alongside your degree. If you have several different certifications or licenses, you can create a separate section for them. Regardless of where you list them, always include the name of the certification, where you received it from, the city and state in which you received it, and the date you earned it. Of course, if you don’t have certifications, it is acceptable to simply list your degree the way the applicant in the auditor resume sample did.

3. What can you do to make your auditor resume stand out?

The easiest way to make your resume stand out is to focus on accomplishments over duties and responsibilities. Hiring managers want to know that you can bring something positive to a company, not just go through the motions. Use strong action words and quantifiable information whenever possible. Consider where you helped companies or clients save money by finding mistakes, and don’t forget to list specific amounts to show you get results.

4. How do you optimize your auditor resume for ATS?

Many companies now use Applicant Tracking Systems to automatically weed out resumes that aren’t a good fit for the job. ATS uses keywords to make its decisions, which means your resume must also use keywords to get through the computer system. When looking at job descriptions for jobs you hope to apply to, consider which words the description uses as keywords, such as specific software names or skill sets. If you have skills in those areas, include the exact phrase or words in your own document, such as how the auditor resume sample uses the phrase “internal audit.” It is also important to avoid too much fancy formatting on your submission because the ATS can become confused and miss keywords that way.

5. How long should an auditor resume be?

The auditor resume sample is about one page in length, which is perfect for most jobs. One page is enough space to provide a thorough look at your education and experience. If you write something longer than one page, the hiring manager may decide it is too long and skip over it entirely in favor of one of the shorter resumes on his or her stack. On the other hand, if you write something too short, it could look like you don’t have enough experience for the job. Use our resume builder to help you write the perfect resume.
