Attorney CV Must-Haves

What Does an Attorney Do?

An attorney acts as a legal representative of individuals and businesses while they navigate the legal system or engage in activities with legal consequences. This may involve representing clients in civil litigation or criminal proceedings, drafting legal documents and contracts, and advising clients on the potential legal consequences of their personal and business decisions. Many attorneys specialize in a particular area of law so they can provide clients with more in-depth knowledge and understanding of the law. Attorneys can choose to enter public service as district attorneys or public defenders. They may also focus their work in the civil sector, handling things like contract disputes, family law, and probate. In our attorney CV example, you can see many of the skills and duties you should highlight in your own CV.

Tips for Creating a Great Attorney CV

As you write your attorney CV, keep the following tips in mind:

– Your professional summary should be the strongest paragraph on your entire CV. Include information that will grab recruiters’ attention and keep them reading.
– Be sure to include only relevant information that would matter to recruiters. If they see fluff in your CV, they will move on to the next applicant.
– Unless you have recently graduated, do not include your GPA. However, always include any honors you have earned, such as magna cum laude.
– Keep things professional by not including any political or religious affiliations. Also avoid controversial topics.
