Chief operating officers, or COOs, are senior executives at their companies’ highest level of leadership. They formulate business strategies and lead junior level executives and managers in implementing these plans. As you write your CV, think of specific incidents that demonstrate your ability to make tactical decisions and skillfully bring your ideas to fruition. Since you are applying to be one of the head members of a company, you must be able to demonstrate that you have extensive leadership experience. However, keep in mind that COOs must also work closely with board members and other executives, so you should touch on your ability to collaborate with colleagues of similar authority levels. Finally, just as the candidate in the COO CV example does, you should show that you have extensive knowledge of all aspects of business, including finances, laws, sales, and marketing.
