A phone interview follow-up shows the hiring manager that you are an ambitious and driven individual, that you truly are interested in the position and are willing to work for it. Think of the follow-up as the final stage of the interview process and not as a separate, optional step.

â€¢DO ask when you should expect to hear about next steps. Waiting for the employer to call you can be nerve-wracking, but knowing when to expect his or her call can help you to be patient.
â€¢DO send a thank-you note within 24 hours. Try to send your thank-you note within a day of your phone interview and never send it any more than three days later. Sending the note too late minimizes its effect and could give the impression that you are uninterested.
â€¢DO follow up within 10 days. If the employer did not give you a specific date by which to expect a phone call or if the call does not come through when promised, do follow up within seven to 10 days. Be respectful and kind while asking when a decision is expected to be made, and never come across as impatient or forceful.
â€¢DON’T put your job search on hold. No matter how badly you may want a particular job, it is unwise to discontinue your job search while waiting for a decision. Continue applying for jobs as usual just in case you are not chosen for the position.

Thank the hiring manager for taking the time to call you and inform you of the decision. 1. Carefully check for spelling and grammatical errors before sending it off.
2. Make sure you use correct names. Never take the chance of misspelling the recruiter’s title or name. If you are not 100% certain about the interviewer’s name, feel free to call and ask the company receptionist.
3. Reiterate your interest in the position. A thank-you note is the perfect opportunity to cement your interest in the available position and to express your respect for the company as a whole.
4. Recap your top selling points and how they can benefit the company. Keep this section brief and succinct. This is not the time to write a second resume; instead, take a few moments to simply reiterate your top selling points so that your interviewers are reminded that you will be a valuable asset if you are hired.
5. End with a sincere “thank you.”Â End your note by sincerely thanking the interviewer for taking the time to speak with you. Express your hopeful desire to meet with him or her in person for future interviews.
