15 Tips to Write Your English Teacher Resume
1. Standalone objective statements are no longer advised unless you are changing careers, seeking an entry-level position, or looking for a higher-level position. Use the summary statement to make a fast pitch to potential employers.
2. This section should highlight your work experience overview, two or three major skill sets, and soft skills within three lines.
3. Use sentence fragments, not whole sentences.
4. Use “years’ experience” or “years of experience” when including this information. Do not use “years experience.”
5. List your relevant skills, particularly any technical abilities and knowledge that you have, as shown in the English teacher resume template for Word. Do not include skills that everyone should already have, such as using internet, email, or a word processing application.
6. Pack your resume with keywords and phrases in this section. Hiring managers and recruiters use scanners to search for keywords and phrases, which will help get your resume selected over others.
7. Avoid including controversial topics. Though you may be a skilled fundraiser for your church or an avid canvasser for political campaigns, anything religious or political should not be included.

12. List dates as either year or month and year.

14. You can omit graduation dates if many years have passed or if including the date highlights a gap in the resume. List education in reverse chronological order.
15. Include any relevant professional development courses, seminars, and trainings.
