Only a Small Percentage of Employers Accept Video Resumes

In the 2010 Orange County Resume Survey*, slightly more than 9 percent of responding employers said they are currently accepting video resumes. Just over 7 percent plan to accept them in the future, while slightly more than 23 percent say they want to research video resumes first. The fact that more than 55 percent of respondents say they don’t accept them and don’t plan to aligns with what we’ve been hearing over the past few years. Video resumes seem unlikely to catch on because they are time-consuming for employers to review; they raise discrimination issues; and they are problematic to keep on file.
