Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform labor markets across the nation, and Miami’s workforce is no exception.

The city’s large workforce in customer service, hospitality, and financial advisory roles makes it especially exposed to what we’re calling the “AI Jobquake,” a disruption that could displace some positions outright and significantly alter many others.

According to the newly released MyPerfectResume AI Exposure Index, about 119,600 workers in Greater Miami are employed in the 10 largest occupations most vulnerable to AI automation.

The Index draws on multiple sources to produce this figure. It utilizes AI task applicability scores, which estimate the extent to which AI systems can potentially handle a job’s daily responsibilities.

These scores are paired with local employment and wage data from Microsoft’s Working with AI study and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program.

While jobs are not expected to disappear overnight, routine work will be increasingly automated, pushing workers to adapt, retrain, and lean into the skills that remain uniquely human.

Customer service work involves high volumes of routine inquiries and scripted problem-solving, making it a prime target for automation via chatbots and automated voice systems. AI can handle common questions and routing, shifting human agents toward complex cases and relationship management.

2. Management analysts

• AI exposure: About 35% of tasks are potentially automatable.

Analysts perform research, data synthesis, and reporting—tasks that AI can accelerate. Automation may streamline benchmarking and initial recommendations, while human consultants focus on implementation, stakeholder engagement, and strategy nuance.

Methodology

The MPR AI Exposure Index draws on two primary sources: Microsoft’s Working with AI: Measuring the Occupational Implications of Generative AI and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) for the Miami metropolitan area. AI task applicability scores were paired with local job counts and wage estimates to identify the city’s most exposed occupations.
