In reverse chronological order, list your current and previous employers and provide company names, locations and the dates you worked for them.     Practice is critical. Practice for your interview by reviewing the most common interview questions.

    After the hiring manager and potential colleagues question you, they will likely offer for you to ask some questions. Always have at least three for each person you speak with; doing so shows that you’re interested and have been paying close attention.

    • What are the primary goals or objectives of the copywriting team within the organization?
    • Can you describe the typical workflow and collaboration process between the copywriting team and other departments or teams?
    • What tools or resources does the company provide to support copywriters in their work, such as content management systems, style guides, or research databases?
    • How does the company measure the success and effectiveness of copywriting efforts, and what key performance indicators (KPIs) are used to evaluate performance?
    • Can you provide examples of past successful copywriting campaigns or projects within the organization and what made them successful?
    • What opportunities are available for professional growth and development within the copywriting team or the broader organization?
    • How does the company approach diversity and inclusion in its copywriting initiatives, and how are diverse perspectives integrated into the creative process?
    • What challenges or opportunities do you foresee for the copywriting team shortly, and how do you envision addressing them?

  4. Gather references.

    Have professional references ready during your interview if the hiring manager offers you the job on the spot (yes, it happens!). Make a list of two or three former colleagues and a former manager willing to speak highly about your abilities to perform the copywriter job.
