May 1981 to Current St Joseph Medical Center Tacoma, WA Staff Technologist (2005 ­ Current) Review and approve physician requests and instructions to assess patients’ x-ray and radiologic needs, prepare and set-up equipment for patients, perform procedures including linear tomography, mammography, sonograms, joint and cyst aspirations, routine contrast studies, routine fluoroscopies, and examinations of the head, trunk, and extremities. Coordinate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to prepare requisite materials; prepare contrast material, radiopharmaceuticals, or anesthetic/antispasmodic drugs and administer radiopharmaceutical interactions. Utilize beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to control radiation exposure to patients and staff. Process exposed radiographs; reject and reprocess radiographs to maintain developing standards. Position patients and explain procedures to patients; position and adjust x-ray equipment and adjust controls to establish exposure parameters. Prepare and manage patient records; document patient information, examinations performed, and views taken.
