An office technician is a support specialist who usually focuses on either computer technology or advanced office equipment. The office technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing office equipment and helping to extend the useful life of the company’s investments. The office technician will work from a maintenance schedule that will indicate which machines require maintenance on specific days, to go along with a repair schedule generated from use requests. The office technician also gets involved in installing new and used equipment, based on the company’s needs. In some cases, the office technician would be part of a team responsible for a major equipment installation project.
