Collections Team Lead Resume Questions
1. How do you highlight soft skills on a team leader resume?
A great way to call attention to both hard and soft skills is in a “Highlights” or “Skills” section. Use bullet points to list soft skills relevant to being a team lead, such as communication skills, leadership abilities, and working well with others. In your experience section, be sure to show examples of how you used these skills in previous jobs. You can use a two-column resume template like the one shown in our team lead resume sample with the addition of sub-headers for “Soft Skills” and “Hard Skills” to better emphasize your abilities.
2. Should you include references on a team leader resume?
The simple answer to this question is no. Unless the posting specifically says to include references, leave them off your resume. You’ll notice our resume samples make no mention of references, not even the “references available on request” statement. The current school of thought is if an employer wants to speak with references, they’ll ask you for references.
3. How can you highlight team experience on a team leader resume?
Using the correct resume format will help you emphasize leadership roles in each position you’ve held. As shown in the first entry on the team lead resume sample, tell how many people you supervised, what teams you led or were a member of, and what you helped them accomplish. Show quantitative results if possible, such as exceeding production goals by a certain percentage, for example. The important thing is to not only say you were on a team, but also to show how you positively influenced that team.
4. How do you write the experience section of your team leader resume?
Start with only the most recent employment, as illustrated in the team lead resume sample, specifically jobs held in the last 10-15 years. Focus on experience that is relevant to the job for which you’re currently applying. Use bullet points to point out relevant activities and accomplishments in each job, but don’t go overboard. Using just five or six bullets for each position allows the recruiter to give your experience section the attention it deserves. Last, avoid industry jargon so whoever sees your resume can easily understand your qualifications. Again, be sure to include quantitative data when possible.
5. How do you describe achievements on your team leader resume?
There are a couple of options for including achievements on your resume. One way is to put them as bullet points under specific jobs, such as if you received the team leader of the year award at that company. If you graduated with honors from college, include that in your education section. If you have several achievements, awards, and honors, you should consider creating a separate section to list these accomplishments. A separate section is a good idea for another reason: it doesn’t take up bullet point space in the experience section. Consider relevant personal achievements, too. Coaching a youth sports team, for example. Check out our team lead resume sample or use our customized resume builder for more help.
